Government exempts 200 SMS per day limit

You heard it right, The government of India has planned to waive the 200 SMS per day per SIM limit. All mobile subscribers can now send unlimited number of messages to any mobile phone. Till now subscribers were to send only 200 SMSes per day . As this SMS limit gave birth to the different new ways of sending SMS through Internet making serious security concerns TRAI now has waived all the mobile phone users from previous SMS limit.
TRAI has exempted machine-to-machine and person-to-machine messages from the limit of 200 SMS per day per SIM.
Although the telecom regulator, while issuing orders for exemption such SMSes has clarified that the mobile phones would be excluded from the definition of “machine” and such SMSes thus sent would not require manual intervention, market watchers said commercial SMS senders may take advantage of the situation. Bharti Airtel has launched Comedy FM for its mobile phone subscribers. This service will have jokes, fillers, standup comedy acts and humorous quotations from TV programmes. Airtel prepaid users can dial 52747 to subscribe to the channel. Airtel is known for its interesting and entertaining offers and services. Comedy FM offers listeners 24×7 access to the best of jokes.
Comedy FM is an IVR service and is available at Rs 2/day and 2paise/sec browsing charges. The launch of Comedy FM on Airtel is another step from Airtel towards bringing to their customers what they enjoy the most
Now prepaid Users can also ask for Bill within 50 Rs

TRAI has announced that prepaid subscribers can now demand for itemised bill from telecom operators. Not more than Rs 50 should be charged for the bill. It is mandatory for telecom operators to provide the bill within 30 days of the customer’s request. Subscribers can also get detailed history of the tariff plans, available credit balance and details of any activated VAS on his number anytime free of cost.
TRAI has also said that specific plan voucher shall be used for enrolling the subscriber into a tariff plan. Every voucher shall have only the price in rupees and price should be without any validity restrictions. A different color band will be used in the back of evry voucher. As of now there are 96% prepaid users and no bill is given for the usage and charged amount. (more…)

Blackberry offers huge discount on Playbook until Dec 31
Blackberry (RIM) has hugely dropped the price of its ‘PlayBook’ by more than half to Rs 13,490 for the 16 GB version in India.RIM introduced PlayBook in June in India.
The 16 GB PlayBook version is available for Rs 13,490 which is actually tagged for Rs 27,990 under a limited festival offer upto December 31. Prices for 32 GB and 64 GB versions are also reduced.The 32 GB version is available at Rs 15,990, while the 64 GB model is priced at Rs 24,490 under the limited period offer.The devices are actually price tagged for Rs 32,990 (32GB) and Rs 37,990 (64GB).
Playbook was launched in India, along with other markets like UK, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Australia and UAE.The 7″ tablet, PlayBook, runs on a new operating system built by QNX Software Systems.Playbook offers to be online only using a Wi-Fi network or by synchronising the device to their BlackBerry smartphones.
