GSM subscribers base of Indian telecom industry has increased to 2.58 percent with the addition of over 12.4 million subscribers In the month of September. Surprisingly state-owned BSNL managed to add the highest number of new mobile subscribers with 2.3 million additions to gain a market share of 14.71 percent. This is the first time since many years that the PSU has managed to attain this position .

As per Cellular Operators Association of India, in the country, the total number of subscribers crossed 494 million as against 481 million the previous month. In India, BSNL added over 2.3 million subscribers, a growth of 3.32 percent over the previous month, to have a total of 72.6 million subscribers. Bharti Airtel, the leading operator has added over two million subscribers, a growth of 1.44 percent as compared to the previous month, taking its total numbers to 143 million. And the operator has acquired a market share of 29 percent. (more…)

BSNL Wi-Max broadband services soon in Rohtak, HaryanaState-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will soon launch Wi-Max, a wireless broadband service in the Rohtak Secondary Switching Area of Haryana. Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is a wireless broadband access technology that provides performance similar to 802.11/Wi-Fi networks with extended coverage and QOS (quality of service). WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations, and 3 – 10 miles (5 – 15 km) for mobile stations (more…)

All this new content is related to CWG, Durga Puja and Navratri festivals.

Audio songs of Durga Pooja are available for Rs. 29 as subscription charges with 10 wallpapers and 5 ringtones free. It will be available from 4th Oct to 20th Oct 2010. BSNL 3G network may expand in Chhattisgarh by October 15BSNL, state owned telecom operator has decided to settle 3G network across Chhattisgarh district by October 15. At present, the service is available in the urban areas but now they plans to expansion of their 3G network in rural areas also. Earlier, five districts, namely Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Kabeerdham, Mahasamund and Dhamtari had the 3G network. The company recently launched the service in Baikunthpur and Ambikapur.

“We have planned to launch the 3G service in all the 18 districts of Chhattisgarh by October 15 and the preparation for the same has started,” said, chief general manager of BSNL (Chhattisgarh circle) Ram Yagna.  (more…)
