Apple iPad coming to India with BSNL 3G plans

If you are waiting to have your hands on original iPad then a good new for you! Apple is finally ready to bring the original iPad to India from this Friday, January 28. BSNL and Apple have signed a deal according to which BSNL will provide dedicated plans budled with iPad. It would be available in 16, 32 and 64 GB versions.
BSNL has said in a statement that it will offer special data plans for iPad with Wifi + 3G in coming weeks, But the contract part is still unclear.
The iPad which runs on iOS has a 10.1 inch capacitive multi touch screen, a 1GHz processor and apps for email and social networking, video streaming, navigation using Google Maps, an eBook reader etc. For connectivity it uses Wifi and 3G networks and offers around 10 hours of battery backup. iPhone 4 soon be available on Verizon Wireless CDMA network

Verizon Wireless finally made the long-awaited announcement that it will sell a version of the iPhone 4 from Feb. 10. By the launch of iPhone 4 with Verizon, U.S. iPhone buyers will get a choice of carriers for the first time. Pre-orders for existing Verizon customers will starts from Feb. 3 2011 and the price will be $200 or $300 with a two-year contract.
According to Verizon, “Verizon cellular will sell its own version of the iPhone 4, which will work on Verizon’s CDMA-based 3G network. Unfortunately the first version of the phone won’t work outside the U.S. ; it probably won’t carry a special chip that can turn it into a “world phone.”
Verizon’s iPhone 4 is identical in form and function to AT&T’s but has one feature AT&T’s does not: It can act as a portable Wi-Fi “hot spot” connecting up to five laptops or other devices to Verizon’s 3G service through Wi-Fi. It’s a feature that’s been offered on other smart phones, usually for an added monthly fee. (more…)
New iPhone OS technology reduces battery drain, signalling issues

In its latest iPhone iOS 4.2 software, Apple has included support for Network Controlled Fast Dormancy technology which makes the network and the handset to work together to create the best conditions for smartphones, providing longer battery life and minimizing network congestion.Nokia has already implemented this technology in its smartphones.
Most of the smartphones constantly connect to the network, due to various network applications and this creates huge amount of signalling. As an example when a user retrieves emails and as soon as all the emails are retrieved some smartphones then switch to idle state in order to conserve battery power. So when user wants more data smartphone has to re-connect. This causes network and phone exchanging many small signals. All this disconnecting and reconnecting takes time and can cause a frustrating slow network response. On the other end, if smart phone remains in active mode it drains battery very quickly. (more…)
UberTwitter application is now available for iPhone

UberTwitter, De facto Twitter client for Blackberry smartphones is now available for the iPhone too. There are already some other Twitter clients available for iPhone but from UberTwitter for iPhone was awaited from long time.
UberTwitter for iPhone has all traditional features, such as composing and sending tweets, retweeting, direct messaging and embedded link shortening. But ŰberTwitter for iPhone offers an important new feature called ŰberView that make reading tweets faster and easier.
