Nokia Finally Adopts Windows Phone As its Primary Smartphone OS

Nokia finally revealed its strategy, by joining hand with Microsoft. Now Nokia will use Windows Phone, as the primary operating system for its Smartphone; but that doesn’t mean that Nokia will stop the production for its home made OS, Symbian and Linux based OS, Meego.
Till now, Nokia has managed to sell more than 150 million Symbian devices in the coming year. Nokia, also said that it will launch Meego based Smartphone very soon in the market. In the meantime, Nokia is also planning to manufacture Windows and Meego based Tablets.
The deal made between Microsoft and Nokia includes following points:
- Nokia would adopt Windows Phone as its principal Smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader.
- Nokia would help drive the future of Windows Phone. Nokia would contribute its expertise on hardware design, language support, and help bring Windows Phone to a larger range of price points, market segments and geographies.
- Nokia and Microsoft would closely collaborate on joint marketing initiatives and a shared development roadmap to align on the future evolution of mobile products. (more…)
Nokia Releases Update 1.1 for N8, C7 and C6-01

Few days back, we saw some pictures of Nokia E6 and now Nokia has released software update for Symbian 3 for their N8, C6-01 and C7 smartphones. But in case if you are expecting that your Smartphone to perform miracles, then you will be disappointed.
Nokia’s blog reports that this update feature are not directly visible to end users, but they are supposed to enhance user experience of the Symbain device.
The update will mostly consist of minor tweaks, fixes, and some additional features.

Nokia 6700 Slide Firmware Updated To v61.004

Nokia has released a new firmware update for its mid rang Handset- Nokia 6700 slide. This firmware update installs the latest version of Nokia Ovi Store Suite v3.0.0.284 into the handset. The music player of the handset has also updated as well. Nokia has also added updated smiley’s with this firmware.
Nokia 6700 slide runs on Symbian OS v9.3 and comes with features like 2.2 QVGA – display, 3G, Bluetooth v2.0, 5 Megapixel camera with AF and LED flash, there is also a secondary camera for video calling and it comes with a 45MB of internal memory that can be expandable up to 16 GB with microSD,
Nokia 6700 slide owner can update their handset either via OTA (Over-To-Air) or by using Nokia’s software update (NSU). Nokia 6700 slide comes with a feature UDP so users don’t need to make a backup of data before downloading the new firmware update. (more…)
Nokia N8 Firmware Updates Expected in January 2011

Nokia, recently confirmed on twitter that it is going to offer a firmware update for Nokia N8 in next month. N8 is currently the Nokia’s flagship model, which comes with amazing features like 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, 12MP camera, , Multi touch, ARM 11 680 MHz processor, TV–out via HDMI with Dolby Digital, HSDPA network with 10.2Mbps download and 2.0 Mbps upload speed.
N8 runs on Nokia’s Symbian 3 operating system. Nokia also reveal that it is going to launch Nokia C6 in January 2011. Nokia C6 will be the most affordable handset and it will be the first phone to use Clear Black Display (CBD) technology.
C6 has features like QWERTY keyboard, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, A-GPS, 5MP AF with LED flash and runs on Symbian OS v9.4 platform. (more…)
