MTNL mumbai slashes ISD call charges to 26 countries

Intense competition has compelled telecom operators to offer local , STD and now ISD calls rates at rock bottom prices as State-run MTNL has slashed ISD calling rates to 26 countries, including US, Canada and China, for its GSM and 3G subscribers without any tariff pack. MTNL has already introduced this slashed ISD rates in Delhi telecom circle which we reported to Thetelecomnews.com users. This huge reduction in price is Introduced in celebration of MTNL’s 25 years in service will be applicable for a period of three months.
Under this new rates MTNL Mumbai users will be able to make call to USA, China, Canada, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore at a cost of only Re 1 a minute. call rates to other popular destinations like for Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Columbia, Indonesia, Iraq, Russia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam will be charged at Rs 5 per minute (more…)
MTNL JNU signs MoU on cheap 3G Services for Students

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Minister of state for Communications and Information Technology “Sachin Pilot” and B.B. Bhattacharya, Vice-Chancellor, JNU under which MTNL will be a preferred Telecom Service Provider for university
According to Sachin Pilot , “Considering that JNU is a premier institute in the country, MTNL has offered to facilitate the students of the University to access the Local Area Network (LAN) of JNU using MTNL 3G network.” Under this agreement, JNU students would be charged just Rs.199 per month for using the MTNL 3G network , instead of the normal fee of Rs.599. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), A state-run telecom operator has started a new price war in ISD ( International Subscriber Dialing ) Calls by announcing a huge Reduction of upto 80 % on 26 Selected Counteries. This Revised international calling tariff is available for both 2G, 3G and Prepaid, Postpaid subsribers. With this New Tariff ISD Calls made to USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand will be charged at just Rs.1 !! Other Countries are also Discounted heavily.
Now MTNL Delhi Subsrcibers can stay in touch with their loved ones at a Price which is just like making a STD calls and that too without any pack. The new Tariff is valid for 90 Days only.

MTNL with Livevana launches Friend Finder in Mumbai

MTNL has launched a new VAS application named “Friend Finder“, for its subscribers in Mumbai. Friend Finder is developed by Livevana Innovations Pvt. Ltd. This application can cater to the needs of young people who want to keep in touch with their groups as well as people who are concerned about safety of near and dear ones when they are physically not around as it helps the user to stay connected with his friends and family on the go. It works on most of the platforms like Blackberry, iPhone, Android, Symbian, Brew, J2ME and WindowsCE etc.
MTNL subscriber has to invite (not more than five people at a time) friends or family members to join their friends’ list. Upon acceptance from the invitees, they are added to the friends’ list of the subscriber. This list can have any number of friends. Some of the useful attributes of this application is that it allows the subscriber to use nicknames of friends and is SMS based. Also, being totally consent-based, a friend is free to simply deny the request of being located by the subscriber. MTNL mumbai introduces DSL Unlimited Combo 495 as regular plan

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) has relaunched the unlimited Broadband plan as a “Regular Combo plan” in Mumbai circle. Previously it was a promotional plan which is now converted into a Regular plan Wef from 30 may 2010. Available at monthly rental of Rs.495 subscribers can enjoy Real unlimited use of without any fair usage policy and with dedicated broadband speed of 320 Kbps throughput the day and night . With this change Annual subscription option is removed which was previously available. MTNL is also Providing a free email id with 4mb storage with this plan but there are no free calls however, customers may make calls @1.20 per minute.
This is indeed a good plan for home users and for those who downloades all the time, But there is uncertainity that how long MTNL will provide this plan?
