Dell Streak tablet cum smartphone coming to India by October
Dell is about to launch its smartphone cum mini-tablet named “Streak” this October in India. Dell streak is running on 1-GHz Snapdragon processor, have 5-inch 800×480 WVGA touchscreen, 5 Mp Dual camera ( 5 Mp both front and rear) and surprisingly thin just 10mm.
Right now Dell Streak is shipping with Android 1.6 and upgradeable to 2.1 version and 2.2 froyo lator but India may not get Froyo on-board. Price is not confirmed yet but expected it to be around Rs 30,000. In US Streak is expected to retail at $299 dollars with contract and $549 without.
This palm-size mini-tablet is somewhat big to fit in pocket, but can be used for many desktop business applications. It could be better used as a substitute of Heavy and large notebooks.
Michael Tatelman, Dell s Vice President for Global Consumer Channel Sales & Marketing, said that Indian consumers can expect the Dell Streak to launch in India around October 2010.

Dell has already made a mistake by an early launch of a minor buggy Android 1.6 tablet in the western market, the early launch is to get a grip on Asian markets will be available early next year but beware Dell Asian market is not as patient as you think it is, lots of options are there from leading manufacturers like Samsung Galaxy, Htc, Motorola, Sony Ericsson. If we want it we want it now. It is a nice tablet cum phone but not worth waiting till next year, sorry Dell your stategy will fail if you come late in the market. Indian market is going to get a $35 tablet very very soon, don’t play the waiting game with us. Also IMO Dell trying to save the netbook category already available, which will be effected with launch of this kind of products. Dell’s bad marketing gimmick. Mr. Felice its better you don’t plan the expansion in Asia. Guys if you have the cash go for samsung or Htc not worth waiting for Dell trust me.
