TTSL supports TRAI decision for preparing 4G services
0Tata Teleservices has supported TRAI on issuing a pre-consultation papers on 4G, saying it would help India to come out with high-end services in line with advanced countries. 4G, known as the Long term evolution ( LTE) or ultra-broadband, offers download at faster speed and high definition video on demand.
“About 23 operators from all parts of the world will be launching 4G by 2010. 3G technology was actually launched in 2001 and we are already nine years behind. It should not happen also in 4G you become nine years behind,” TTSL MD Anil Sardana said.
On the same day when India is dreaming of 4G and waiting for 3G, MobileOne (M1) of Singapore partnering with Nokia Siemens Networks, successfully completed a 100 Mbps data call on its Long Term Evolution (LTE) trial network.
Skipping 3g Trai starts consultation on 4G technology in india
0While the government continues to be a snail on the auction of 3G spectrum, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India ( TRAI ) has set its eyes on the next generation telephony. TRAI on Monday has initiated consultation for the fourth generation or 4G technology.
“Yes. We are starting the process and would come out with a consultation paper to look into various issues relating to 4G Telecom services, 3G has been delayed badly … I don’t want 4G or LTE (Long Term Evolution) to meet the same fate. Other countries are catching up with the 4G and that is why we are taking advance action.” TRAI Chairman JS Sarma said.
4G or LTE, which succeeds the 3G and 2G technology, is already being tested in various parts of the world by foreign players like the US-based Motorola and Ericsson.
The fourth-generation, or 4G, technology, known as the ultra-broadband, offers download at faster speed and high definition video on demand, among other services.
