Bharti Airtel becomes worlds fifth no mobile services provider

Bharti Airtel, Leader in Indian Telecom market has announced it has successfully concluded a $10.7-billion deal to acquire the African assets of Kuwait’s Zain, making Bharti Airtel the world’s fifth largest mobile phone services company. The deal enables Bharti Airtel to extend its services in 15 countries across the African continent except Sudan and Morocco.
“Bharti is now among the five largest mobile operators in the world. This will further strengthen the historic Indo-Africa economic and social ties and provide a big boost to South-South cooperation,” said group chairman Sunil Mittal.
“I am pleased that we are starting with a bank. 42 million customers (which) is the customer base of Zain Africa. 3.6 billion dollars in revenue and just under 1.2 billion dollars in EBITDA is what Africa offers us at this starting point,” added Mittal.
Bharti now now has a total user base over 180 million in 18 countries. Prior to this deal, Bharti had operations in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Airtel Mirchi mobile Indias 1st LIVE Radio on Mobile

Bharti Airtel, Asia’s leading integrated telecom service provider introduces a new vas for live radio named as “Mirchi Mobile”. This service would enable Airtel customers to tune into India’s leading private FM radio station “Radio mirchi” from anywhere in India.
Adding more to the offering, this new service would allow customers to select from a host of 12 Mirchi stations, even on the mobile handsets that do not have an in-built FM receiver. The service will be initially available to customers of Airtel in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Rest of Maharashtra which would be later followed by the launch of the service in the rest of the country.
To activate the service: Call 59830 (toll-free) to subscribe to the service and start enjoying the service and 59830800 (toll-free) to deactivate from the service.
Charges: Now enjoy 100 minutes of Radio at just Rs.10 per week. 100 minutes expire at the end of 1 week.
Mirchi Mobile adds to the wide bouquet of VAS services offered by Airtel to its customers. So, tune in to the radio station in Bangalore, Kolkata or even Kerala and listen to the radio of your choice!
Airtel launches online music library named My Tunes in Delhi

Bharti Airtel India’s No 1 Telecom Provider today launched a music content services named as ‘My Tunes’ for in Delhi. Airtel claims the service is India’s largest music library with unlimited playlist feature as it has over 23 categories of music library including over half a million tracks from Bollywood , Devotional and English Rock songs. The services are available for Rs.15 per week and 30 paise per minute will be charged for accessing the services To access MY-TUNES A subscriber has to dial IVR portal @ 54345.
Announcing the launch of the service, Mr. Shashi Arora, CEO-Delhi & NCR, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel said, “Starting with the launch of Hello Tunes in 2004, Airtel has led the music on mobile revolution in India. With the My Tunes service, today we are putting the power and freedom of choice in the hands of the customer – the power to choose the content he wishes to consume alongwith the freedom to enjoy an unlimited music experience on mobile.”
