Airtel Mirchi mobile Indias 1st LIVE Radio on Mobile

Bharti Airtel, Asia’s leading integrated telecom service provider introduces a new vas for live radio named as “Mirchi Mobile”. This service would enable Airtel customers to tune into India’s leading private FM radio station “Radio mirchi” from anywhere in India.
Adding more to the offering, this new service would allow customers to select from a host of 12 Mirchi stations, even on the mobile handsets that do not have an in-built FM receiver. The service will be initially available to customers of Airtel in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Rest of Maharashtra which would be later followed by the launch of the service in the rest of the country.

Airtel ranked Best Telecom Company in Gujarat at GESIA Awards

Airtel was chosen for this award from among the leading telecom companies that currently operate in the state of Gujarat.

Kuwait’s Zain Accepts Bharti Airtel Bid at $10.7 billion

Bharti Airtel, India’s largest mobile phone company by subscribers, finally succeeded to buy Kuwait’s African asset ZAIN excluding Sudan and Morocco at $10.7 billion. The Indian telecom firm will pay Zain $10 billion by mid-April, and the remaining $700 million will be paid before the end of the year. The statement on Sunday comes a day after several unsourced reports in Kuwaiti newspapers said Zain has received an offer from Bharti to buy their African assets.
Zain’s African assets have been on the block for about seven months and attracted interest from several others companies, including Vivendi and China Mobile. But Bharti Airtel put in the most compelling offer.
Bharti Airtel, which has nearly 120 million subscribers, has been gearing up for a major expansion into emerging markets. Last month, it created a special international division to scout assets abroad and completed one major deal, agreeing to buy a 70% stake in Bangladesh’s Warid Telecom for an initial investment of $300 million.
Bharti airtel adds 2.85 million new mobile users in January

Bharti Airtel, India’s no. 1 mobile operator adds 2.85 million new mobile subscribers in January 2010. Now Airtel has a total of 121.7 million user-base. Third-ranked Vodafone Essar, controlled by Vodafone, signed up 2.74 million mobile users in January, to boost its total to 94.1 million, Fifth-ranked Idea Cellular gained 2.28 million mobile subscribers, taking its total to 59.9 million. Nokia Siemens $700 million deal with Bharti Airtel

Bharti Airtel Limited, Asia’s leading integrated telecom services provider and Nokia Siemens Networks today further strengthened their strategic partnership with a USD 700 million network expansion contract. The contract includes network planning, implementation and project management, handling of local logistics and materials, as well as system integration for the base station sites Company said it will also ensure that Bharti Airtel’s core and transport network is 3G-ready in order to reduce time to market and enable the fast rollout of 3G services at a later date.
This GSM network expansion will cover the eight existing circles of Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh, Bihar & Jharkhand, Orissa, Kolkata and West Bengal where Nokia Siemens Networks already provides equipment and managed services for Bharti Airtel. With close to 60% of Airtel’s monthly customers coming from rural regions, this contract will enable Airtel to further aggressively expand its footprint into rural India.

Nokia Siemens Networks is expanding and upgrading the operator’s 2.5G network to increase network capacity by 50% in eight circles.
