BSNL, State owned telecom operator has announced a new plan named ‘Pyari Jodi‘ offering a free mobile SIM to fixedline subscribers. BSNL has announced this scheme to retain its declining landline user base, It will be rolled out in Mumbai and then to rest of Maharashtra and Goa.
This innovative scheme will enable all BSNL landline subscribers in Maharashtra and Goa to get a free mobile SIM card. It is not the connection that will be free, but even the calls made to BSNL wired line service will also be free. (more…)
12.4 mn new GSM subscribers in india September, BSNL tops
0GSM subscribers base of Indian telecom industry has increased to 2.58 percent with the addition of over 12.4 million subscribers In the month of September. Surprisingly state-owned BSNL managed to add the highest number of new mobile subscribers with 2.3 million additions to gain a market share of 14.71 percent. This is the first time since many years that the PSU has managed to attain this position .
As per Cellular Operators Association of India, in the country, the total number of subscribers crossed 494 million as against 481 million the previous month. In India, BSNL added over 2.3 million subscribers, a growth of 3.32 percent over the previous month, to have a total of 72.6 million subscribers. Bharti Airtel, the leading operator has added over two million subscribers, a growth of 1.44 percent as compared to the previous month, taking its total numbers to 143 million. And the operator has acquired a market share of 29 percent. (more…)
BSNL NextGen Wireless Broadband Service WiMax in Nagaland

After the successful launch of its 3G services on pan India basis, State Run BSNL is now all set to launch the next generation high speed Broadband service WIMAX in North-East region.
WIMAX , described as “a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of ‘last mile’ wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL (Digital Subscriber Line)” can deliver data at speeds of upto 7.2 Mpbs with a coverage of 15 kilometres.
“CGM of BSNL NE-II Circle, R. Sanyal said that, ‘WIMAX’ (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) the 4th generation of high speed “fully mobile Internet access” – has reached Nagaland. (more…)

GSM subscribers data of Top 5 Indian telecos until August

India, One of the largest growing market in the world has added 13.5 million new GSM mobile subscribers In month of August. The total GSM subscribers base stood at over 481 million,Cellular Operators Association of India(COAI) said in its latest figures.
Country’s largest private telecom operator Bharti Airtel added just over 2 million users to take its total subscriber base to 141.25 million and market share at 29.33 percent. Vodafone is in second place with a subscriber base around 113.77 million and market share of 23.62 per cent at the end of August. IDEA Cellular the third largest GSM operator with a subscriber base of little over 15 percent. IDEA Cellular is followed by BSNL with total subscribers of about 70 million. But, Reliance Communication and TTSL are ahead of BSNL if we count CDMA users also. (more…)
