BSNL 3G network may expand in Chhattisgarh

BSNL 3G network may expand in Chhattisgarh by October 15BSNL, state owned telecom operator has decided to settle 3G network across Chhattisgarh district by October 15. At present, the service is available in the urban areas but now they plans to expansion of their 3G network in rural areas also. Earlier, five districts, namely Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Kabeerdham, Mahasamund and Dhamtari had the 3G network. The company recently launched the service in Baikunthpur and Ambikapur.

“We have planned to launch the 3G service in all the 18 districts of Chhattisgarh by October 15 and the preparation for the same has started,” said, chief general manager of BSNL (Chhattisgarh circle) Ram Yagna.  (more…)

BSNL launches NextGen Wireless Broadband Service WiMax in NagalandAfter the successful launch of its 3G services on pan India basis, State Run BSNL is now all set to launch the next generation high speed Broadband service WIMAX in North-East region.

WIMAX , described as “a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of ‘last mile’ wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL (Digital Subscriber Line)” can deliver data at speeds of upto 7.2 Mpbs with a coverage of 15 kilometres.

“CGM of BSNL NE-II Circle, R. Sanyal said that, ‘WIMAX’ (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) the 4th generation of high speed “fully mobile Internet access” – has reached Nagaland. (more…)

275 Million High speed Broadband Users in India By 2015According to a report by ASSOCHAM, the High-speed broadband subscriber base in India is likely to grow up to 275 million from current 9 million by the next five years (2015), as telecom firms will roll out Broadband Wireless Acess (BWA) air waves that were auctioned in June.

with the adoption of wireless broadband (BWA) in Recent broadband wireless auctions, in which operators were allocated spectrum  and Considering that around 43 per cent Internet subscribers were still using conventional dial-up connections at the end of 2009, there is a lot of potential to migrate existing subscribers to high-speed services which could lead Total subscriber base of High speed internet in India to 275 million in coming years.

BWA spectrum enables high-speed Internet access as well as Internet telephony and TV services. It can also be used for voice and high-speed data services.
