Bharti Airtel has started the roll out of 3G services in Andhra Pradesh with launch of the service in the cyber city of Hyderabad. Airtel today also announced the launch of High Definition (HD) gaming for its 3G customers. On the B2B front, Airtel announced that it now offers special programmes catering to the 3G needs of enterprise customers.
High Definition gaming on Airtel 3G speeds will allow customers to use their HD enabled mobile handsets to benefit from various exciting features such as touch interface, motion sensors, enhanced 3D graphics and quality music special effects – in effect, bringing alive the ultimate console like gaming experience on to the mobile device. Vodafone Essar, one of India’s leading cellular service providers, has bagged exclusive rights for live streaming of ESPN Star Sports’ coverage of the ICC CWC 2011, which begins February 19, 2011. As part of this deal, Vodafone’s discerning customers will be able to watch ball-by-ball live coverage of all 49 ODI’s on their mobile phones via ESPN Mobile TV.
Live streaming of CWC matches on ESPN Mobile TV will be available to Vodafone subscribers and can be availed on both 2G (GPRS enabled) and 3G handsets. With a cricketing crazy nation expected to be caught up in a frenzy during the 6 weeks of play, Vodafone subscribers will be able to catch all the live action from the matches being played on the go, anytime, anywhere. Reliance Communications (RCom) India’s second largest telecom operator owned by Anil Ambani has showed its 3G network capabilities to the public and becomes the first private operator of India who done this . Rcom achieved this by streaming a private news channel broadcast live on a mobile phone and shown it to shareholders on a big screen at the company’s annual general meeting (AMG) .
“We are the first private operator to show our 3G network to the world,” RCOM’s President-Wireless, Syed Safawi, told shareholders as he requested a company executive to operate the mobile phone. (more…)
