MTS expands Telecom services in UP East and UP West

MTS has announced the expansion of its mobile telephony services in UP East and UP West Circles. This is all set to further add to the company’s customer base, which now stands at over 8 million voice and over 400,000 mobile broadband customers. The Russian Government recently picked up approximately 17% stake in SSTL for $ 600 million US.
Announcing the launch of MTS in UP East and UP West Circles, Sergey Savchenko, Chief Financial Officer, Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) said, “The launch of telephony services by MTS in UP East and UP West has further expanded our national footprint. MTS would now be able to address the telecom needs of over 80% of India’s population and about 92% of the data market potential in the country. (more…)
MTS Launches its CDMA Mobile Services in Gujarat

MTS, Brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) today announced the launch of its mobile telephony services in Gujarat. The launch extends the company’s national footprint to 13 telecom circles including the entire Western region of India.
With the launch, MTS customers in Gujarat will now have access to the nationally successful ½ paisa per second prepaid tariff plan enabling them to connect anywhere within the state. In addition MTS mobile users will also have the benefit of ‘Timeage’.
Timeage is all about providing added mileage to a customer’s mobile phone. Simply put it is the actual extended value derived from an MTS mobile, expressed as a function of time. (more…)
MTS Crosses 5 lakh Customer Milestone in Bihar and Jharkhand

MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd (SSTL), today announced it’s achievement of crossing the 5 lakh customer milestone in Bihar & Jharkhand. MTS has added over 4.9 lakh voice and over 15,000 data customers in just 16 months.
The company is on track with its investment plans of USD 180 million, earmarked to develop telecom infrastructure and services in Bihar and Jharkhand. Additionally MTS is also credited for establishing a network of 25000 retailers across 282 towns in the 2 states. (more…)
The Russian government approves equity investment in SSTL

Sistema , the largest diversified public financial corporation in Russia and the CIS, which invests in and is a major shareholder of companies operating in different industries, today announced that the Government of the Russian Federation has approved an equity investment in Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd. (SSTL), Sistema’s subsidiary in India, which provides telecommunications services under the MTS brand.
It is expected that the Russian Government, represented by the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo), will participate in an issuance of additional shares of SSTL, paying an equivalent of US$ 600 million in the form of Indian rupees held in accounts representing Indian governmental debt to the Russian Federation. MTS Delhi Recognised as Best Product Launch Activation Program

MTS, the mobile telephony brand of Sistema-Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) has been awarded as the “Best Product Launch Activation Program” by EEMAX – The Event Management Agency Association of India. The award was presented at the annual meet of EEMAX last week.
The activity involved free passage of vehicle movement through the branded toll gates at DND at Noida to and from Delhi for the launch date in October 2009. Close to 100,000 vehicles had moved through the toll gate at Noida- on the Delhi- Noida border on 9,October 2009. The activity was to mark the arrival of the faster and smoother data service, combined with best of tariffs for telephony. (more…)
