Indian government to verify actual no. of active mobile users

With a whooping official mobile subscriber base of 670 million, India is emerging as one of the fastest growing mobile phone subscriber market in the world. Moreover story doesn’t ends here as the no. of subscribers are ever increasing by addition of near about 13-16 million new users every month.
But the Indian government is not very sure on the actual number of mobile phone users in the country. Indian government is now looking forward to deploy some technology and regulations which can find out the real number of mobile phone subscribers. The decision was arrived at a recent meeting of the Telecom Commission.
From this total 670 million mobile subscribers, there are considerable amount of non-active mobile users and single users with multiple SIM cards. Although no official figures are available for non-active subscribers, some estimates show that actual number of subscribers may not be more than 500 million. (more…)
TRAI recommends 10-digit numbers for rising Fixed line phones

TRAI has recommended the use of 10-digit numbers for fixed lines by December 2011 in a bid to accommodate the rising number of telephone users in India. So in the near future you could have a 10-digit landline number too Just like your mobile number
The existing numbering system was designed for 750 million connections, including 450 million mobile connections. The numbering system was supposed to last till 2030, said TRAI, but that has come under severe strain with the mobile numbers having crossed that mark in 2009 itself. While the country at present has over 660 million just mobile phone users, reports say the number of telecom subscribers is estimated to exceed 1 billion by 2014. (more…)

This comparison is released in public interest to depict the actual Quality of Service ( QoS ) of all Telecom players of Delhi service area.
To confer this report TRAI has Analysed all 9 Telecom operators on the basis of different parameters like BTS Downtime, Call Drops, Voice Quality and Resolutions by Customer care executives. This report reveals the Poor Customer service of Tata Indicom where as MTS surprisingly swings up with Least call Drops.
For Basic Telephone Service ( Land-Line ) TRAI Considered Parameters like Occurrence of Faults in Telephone line, Percentage of Reparing with Average time taken to overhaul the problem and Usefulness of Customer care. In this Report MTNL along With Tata Tele disappoints everyone with its poorest Service among all operators.

Indian Mobile subscribers crossed 617 million in May

May 2010 adds up 6.3 million new mobile connections in India making more than “617 million” total number of mobile subscribers in the country. According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Monday, the wireless user base grew 2.7 percent to 617.53 million in May from 601.22 million in the previous month.
Bharti Airtel leads in May by adding 3 million users making total subscriber base to 133.6 million users. Reliance Communications comes on second, which added 2.8 million new subscribers while Vodafone added 2.59 million connections.Tata Teleservices added 2.32 million users in May 2010, Idea Cellular (1.43 million ) and Aircel, 1.60 million new users (more…)
